Can't Leave Well Enough Alone - February 05, 2016

- Continental style knitting versus English style knitting
- Strawberry cider!
- Chinese Red Bean Cake recipe - a steamed gummy cake

- Two days out from Lionshead Island
- Girls wake up to lots of commotion on deck
- Two ballista on deck loaded with grappling hooks!
- Another ship from Rhoanor name the Sea Star
- Pirates switch flag to match the other ship
- "I didn't choose the pirate's life. The pirate's life chose me."
- T is VERY UPSET
- S suggests they get the halfling onto the other ship
- T says it might do if they can't stop the attack itself
- F says they can't stop the attack or the pirates will probably just through them overboard
- F goes to the hold to try to release the halfling captives
- S & T go to the captain's cabin to see if they can find the key(s) to the cages - S finds nothing in the deck except rat droppings - T finds some clothing and 300GP of coin - nothing in his ratty mattress either - S says if the keys aren't here they're either in the hold or in the galley
- S goes to help F in the hold, T goes to search the galley
- F does not do well at picking the locks
- S shows up and starts asking the halflings abotu the key or who might have the key - the key is hanging on the wall near the cages in the hold
- T finally shows up and they start whispering about how to get the halflings onto the other ship so they can get away
- They take the halflings up to the deck and S casts a flash bang illusion to get the captain to look away from the battle on the other ship, then uses the Hand to paralyze him (F takes 5 necrotic dmg)
- The halflings dash across and hide amongst the things on the deck of the Sea Star
- As they are hiding S sees a couple of pirates go into the hold of the other ship, and then she hears TERRIFIED screams that cut off abrubtly
- The captain then sends another two pirates down into the hold to investigate. More screaming. The pirates are quite spooked now.
- T marches across the gang plank an shakes one of the other sailors and asks him what's in the hold - he answers foggily that it's just trade goods bound for Port Carling
- S comes and looks the sailors over and realizes they are under a magically induced hypnosis
- T casts Dispel Magic on the sailors (Nat 20!) and a misty blueness rises from the sailors and dissipates into nothing
- The sailors have no memory of leaving Rhoanor
- T pretends to call for Mishakal's aid while S casts a bluey glowing orb down through the entrance and into the hold (S then tries to use the Hand to paralyze the bit of movement that can be seen in the shadows, but it is gone too fast)
- S create an illusion of a newborn halfling child (Baby! Thessalie almost dives into the hold, but F stops her), some spiders about an inch across immediately attempt to scurry across it, but as it is an illusion they merely skitter through it
- The captain then sends Jackson to go get one of the littl'uns from the carrrgo to send into the hold
- Some of the halflings who had come out from hiding to watch the precedings now dive back into hiding once prompted by T
- Jackson returns and says the halflings are missing. Jackson and Callahan decide it must be the visitors who haven't been "followin' the rules"
- The pirates try to order the girls into the hold, but the girls refuse on account of S "doesn't do spiders"
- The pirates draw swords
