In the Library of the Book Wyrm - February 26, 2016

- Oreo churros for Katie's 30th!

- Thessalie wakes up warm and comfy in a soft bed - She enjoys this for a brief moment before realizing that she went to sleep on the cold, rocky ground, so this is probably bad.
- She sits up slowly and looks around for her elven companions.
- Felosyal and Sharai are also asleep in beds over there similar to T's. They are probably also warm and comfy.
- This is doubly disconcerting since elves don't actually sleep.
- T dashes over and to S who is closer "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" (But gently, she is a healer after all.) A very groggy S mutters something about only using a bed for fucking.
- F also wakes up and attempts to draw a couple of daggers, but she doesn't have any. No one is wearing armor either. All the girls are pretty much in their underthings.
- All their stuff is just in a pile over there, though. FST gather their things and get dressed.
- They've started discussing where they might be when the door opens and a very tall, broad-shouldered man with a long, red beard (with the pale complexion to match) enters the nicely decorated room.
- He found them passed out in the rocky plains where the volcano off-gases.
- S can sense that he positively drips with magic.
- Lionshead Island may have some patchy connections to the Elemental Chaos, especially near the volcano, Gerard informs them when they ask about the rock monsters.
- S & T are being awfully chatty and silly. They start pondering back and forth if Gerard is to be trusted and what all that magic might mean.
- S: "Maybe he is Lellzutho." G: "I'm standing right here!"
- F asks him about the artifact they came to find.
- Gerard says that if there is anything that seems like a precious gem, the dragon Daganth has probably found it and added it to his collection.
- T asks how he knows Daganth's name.
- "We've met."
- T asks Gerard if he's a dragon.
- He answers vaguely and evasively without actually answering the question.
- T decides he is definitely a dragon in human form and ask if he's really Daganth. He is not Daganth. She is nearly exploding with excitement to tell her brother Eldon that she's been to a volcano and talked to a dragon. Gerard winks at her. Then she remembers that Eldon took a treasure map to the Emberwood in Rhoanor and probably needs rescuing and gets sad.
- S asks Gerard if he could tell the other dragon to put special spells and traps and things on the Heart (assuming that he has it). If not, they will give it to him, since they don't want it to have, they only want it to keep Talathon from having it.
- Gerard invites S to use his library if she'll be extremely careful with some of the older manuscripts (down the hall and on the left) and T can make a cake (down the hall on the right) as she likes, but he has an errand to run as it's getting on towards the middle of the afternoon and excuses himself.
- T chatters a bit more while making the beds, and she sees a green dragon fly past the glazed windows (this cave is very swanky). She gets super excited again, and extra wants to make him a cake so that she can tell Eldon she had cake with a dragon.
- FST go to explore the library and kitchen.
- The library is huge. Hugely massive. The biggest room any of them have ever seen. The library that the Beast gives Belle could fit into it at least four times, maybe more. It's five or six stories tall with mezzanines and spiral staircases and sliding ladders. It's very irregularly shaped with lots of nooks and crannies, though the central area is as big as two royal ballrooms combined (not that FS or T have ever been in a royal ballroom, but they can imagine.)
- T is boggled. She was going to see if he had a book on healing lore which she didn't already know, but she immediately wonder how she would ever find such a thing.
- S examines a few of the nearer shelves to get an idea of the organizational scheme and after a bit decides to start looks through that shelf over there to see if there is any information about the Keepers of Lellzutho.
- S finds a book that looks pretty promising information-wise, but is afraid to touch it because it looks like it's going to fall apart.
- S calls over T from where she was looking at the spines of some books over there to see if she can Mend it.
- T comes over from her unfruitful search, and Mends the book. Her powers have improved enough the the book looks as good as new. Considering the size of this library, she decided Gerard must really love books, so if she can repair some of his books that would be better for him than a cake to thank him for saving them. She goes on a Mending spree on all the books she can easily reach (the bottom three shelves.)
- S starts to say that maybe T shouldn't mess with someone else's stuff, but there is no stopping the tiny power house when she gets an idea like this one. She gives up and goes over to a convenient table to read about Lellzutho.
- Neither S nor T notice F leave the library after a very short time to investigate the kitchen. She finds a banquet table covered with a selection of meats, vegetables, cheeses, and fruits. She has a nice meal and then sets to repairing and cleaning her equipment with the odd snack here and there. While getting another apple, she realizes that it looks exactly like the first apple she had a few hours ago and is in exactly the same location in the bowl from which she took the first one. On a closer examination it doesn't look like anyone has taken any food off the table at all though she has been enjoying eating not-travel-rations. She concludes the table must be enchanted to never run out of food, though she doesn't catch it regrowing anything.
- S discovers that Lellzutho was a minor god of destruction and chaos and the Keepers were a group who defeated him and are (supposedly) trying to keep him from returning to reek havock on the world (again).
- Near the end of the afternoon a few hours later, Gerard comes back to find S pouring over a stack of books nearish the door. He asks her if she's found what she was looking for, and she starts to explain to him what's she found, and about how she thinks she and her companions have made an error in their judgement about Talathon belonging to the Keepers of Lellzutho, and now she believes he is stealing from the Keepers, when T runs up.
- T skids to a stop in front of Gerard and says "Gerard! Gerard! Gerard" This started before the skidding to a stop, "I the-opposite-of-damaged your books!" She puts both of her tiny little fists under her chin to frame the ear to ear grin.
- Gerard and S follow the dashing T back to where she has been Mending the oldest books she could find for several hours.
- Gerard's face goes very blank for a moment, giving Sharai a bit of a quiver before he says "This is glorious! Can you do more?"
- He shows T to his bookshelf of extremely worn favorites and she gets to work Mending those.
- G then tells S that he spoke to Daganth who refused to admit if he owned or even knew about the Heart, but from his knowledge of the dragon and his behaviors, he suspects that Daganth does indeed possess the Heart.
- S is worried that even if they warn Daganth Talathon will somehow be able to steal the Heart from him, and that it and all the other artifacts should probably be destroyed to prevent them from bring even more death and destruction than they once did.
- F asks Gerard if he's really a dragon where his treasure is.
- Gerard says that dragons don't necessarily hold treasure per se. They tend to collect things which they believe possess value.
- T: "You're a book wyrm! You collect books! That's way better than gold!"
- F twists her mouth into a disagreeing shape, but doesn't say anything.

Lionshead Island - February 12, 2016

- Cake cookies and jolly ranchers!
- When did blue raspberry become a flavor?

- SKILL CHALLENGE
- Goal: Get the girls, the halflings, and the unhypnotized sailors to the pirate ship and away from the monsters in the hold
- Need 6 successes before 3 failures
- Felosyal is awake, but weak and woozy
- S (Arcana) - Scorching Ray at the pirate who opened the hold to give the swarms and swarms of spiders something to eat besides the fleeing victims - 15 is a success - The pirate falls over and is quickly lost to sight from the hundreds and hundreds of spiders that cover him
- T (Medicine) - Cure Wounds on F - 22 is a success - Felosyal shakes her head and jumps to her feet
- F (Persuasion) - Get the surviving pirates to help defend the ship - 11 is not a success - The pirates are too freaked out to do anything useful
- S (Nature) - Identify the spiders because knowledge is power - 16 is a success - They are enormous Jumping Spiders who eat lungs - EEK!
- T (Acrobatics) - Climbs into the rigging to get a lose rope and throws it to S on the other ship as the spiders are about to reach her (earns a +1 for being awesome) - NAT 20! - S successfully swings across the gap before the spiders reach her, though they are beginning to cross the gangplank after the sailors
- F (Animal Handling) - Safely capture and throw overboard the largest spider who followed the last sailor across the gangplank (it is about the size of a dog, and not a little dog, either) - 14 is not a success - She is now riding the spider like a bucking bronco, and it is chasing halflings around the deck
- S (Arcana) Burning Hands on the gangplank and cross spiders - 22 is a success - the gangplank and several hundred spiders and incinerated
- T (Insight) Figure out which of the sailors was the captain and snap him into action to get us away from the spider-monster ship - 18 is a success - The sailors jump to follow her orders while FST squish and throw overboard spiders as they manage to jump cross until the distance is too great for the spiders to jump any more
- SUCCESS

- The two surviving pirates go up to F and ask her for her orders Cap'n
- The sailors ask where we're headed and when they hear Fort Whitkow, they say Lionshead Island is dangerous.
- F offers to sell them the ship, which they can do with the proceeds from the pirates' carrrgo (the tea only, not the halflings).
- T puts one of the halflings in charge of the galley with one of the pirates as sous chef (to prevent the halfling from eating all the food himself)
- FST take a tender to shore - They land on the beach near the fort. There is a small amount of smoke up the beach; it looks like a small camp fire.
- There are three figures silhouetted by the setting sun around the small fire as the girls approach it.
- F sneaks over to the group - 3 men - One is Tyron Hiram (the merchant who gave F her necklace) Wilbur and Lee his guards are the other two.
- FST approach them. They are here exploring.
- S thinks the guys are being pretty straight-forward, but she doesn't trust them.
- T doesn't notice a spell on them (They spent a little time in Rhoanor recently), or at least, if there is a spell on the three men, it's much subtler than the one that was on the sailors.
- The merchants ran into a group of 30 wolves just over the border in Rhoanor - a very large (unusually so) pack
- Hiram hits on F some more - T is confused at first "Oh, you're asking her for sex!"
- During the night F notices a large dragon flying high overhead - S didn't notice it because "the first was in [her] eyes"
- The next morning the guys are gone. With all their stuff. There are footprints on the beach parallel to the shore.
- S goes over and bangs on the gate of the fort. No one answers and the sound echoes hollowly back at them.
- FST head inward and upward
- S starts to feel some sort of magical aura as they move inland. - S orients herself and the girl start moving in the direction where it feels stongest
- As they are walking, the girls come to a rocky area and three somethings (that look like rocks) rise up and head directly for the girls.
- The things look like flying piles of rocks in a sort of humanoid shape (no legs, though). It looks like they are wearing rock armor, but where on a human you would see skin it looks molten. - No face, just molten orbs.

The Three Rules of the Ocean Blade - January 29, 2015

- Pregame talking: Jim's bad handwriting and the Thingamajig

- T asks S what the thing in the Emberwood is. The thing that goes with the Hand.
- The Mouth is in the Emberwood  S reminds T that the Mouth is the thing that bring information to the bearer and may even portend the future
- T clearly forgot all of this so S also reminds her that the fourth of the creepy, dismembered body-part artifacts is the Arm, a relic of great destructive powers, which is hidden on the largest island of the central finger of the Grasping Claw Cape
- T nods in that way the means she really did forget everything
- F reminds T that the girls are headed towards Lionshead Island to get the Heart which is supposed to have some sort of power over life and death

- The group finally bids adieu to the Groundswallows and heads to the docks
- Captain Callahan greats them and asks for their fee, so they give him 30GP now and tell him that he'll get the other 30GP on their safe arrival to the island
- The rules of the Ocean Blade:
      1. As this is a pirate ship yeh must talk like a pirate.
      2. In bad weather, stay in yer cabin and out from underfoot
      3. Stay outta the hold as carrrgo may shift durin' transport
- T begs not to attack people. Captain C assures her that she doesn't have to attack anyone she doesn't want to. F is perfectly willing to attack people as long as she gets share of the loot.
- The pirate are going to share their booty. Tee hee hee.
- The girls stow their things in the passenger cabin, which has four hammocks. F takes on of the two top hammocks, and the backpacks are safely tied in the other top hammock.
- FST begin exploring the ship, F tries to sneak into the hold to see what's down there (5 minutes in and already breaking the rules, SMH)
- F gets caught immediately (Crit Fail), says she was looking for the bathroom - she gets walked to the privy, which is a tiny room with a bench with a hold in it and a bucket under the bench
- T distracts the Captain who comes to see what the commotion is by going on about how she's a cleric, not a pirate, and talking like a pirate hurts her throat and can they please not attack anyone because she can't bear to see anyone get hurt and it's not worth it for stuff and she doesn't want Stuff!
- F wants Stuff, especially if its gold stuff.
- S goes back to the cabin to read while lounging in her hammock
- F skulks around
- T sulks against the railing a while then goes around Mending things (The Ocean Blade has never looked better!)
- In the evening, Captain C invites the girls to sitting with him at the Captain's Table along with the first mate, Jackson
- Roast pork and potatoes in a sort of gravy for dinner
- Jeremiah cannot talk like a Scottish, Sean Connery pirate. We know because he tried and failed.
- S asks how long until we get to Lionshead Island - "If the wind is with us and we don't stop to make any booty calls, we should be there in five or six days."
- No entertainment tonight as its the first night, but most nights there's singing and sometimes some of the men dress up and put on a cabaret.
- S tries to bribe and sweet talk a random pirate to show her what's in the hold on her way back to the cabin from the mess. She is very unsuccessful.
- Meanwhile back in the mess, pirate are very sloppy drunks. T starts walking up and down the table leading the pirate shanties. Loudly. Out of key. No one really notices since no one two pirate are singing in the same key either.
- F finds the drunkest pirate and gives him another stein of ale. Then she inexpertly flirts with him until he says, "There's mostly tea in the hold right now, but it's not worth half so much as the littl'uns." Slurp. Glug. Pass out.
- Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
- F then attempts to pretend to seduce a pirate, thinking that may there is a door into the hold from the crew's quarters, but as there's connection between the two, so she leave the pirate on the pretense of getting more ale, and then sneaks through the mess without any of the carousing pirates (or cleric) noticing her.
- T eventually gives up singing and goes to the cabin and is surprised to see F there. They are agree that now that they know this is a pirate ship, they are determined to see what is in the hold. Especially, after F tells what she heard from the drunkest of the drunks.
- There is a brainstorming session to figure out how this might be done. S suggests either using her spells Disguise Self to look like one of the pirates and going into the hold that way or perhaps causing some chaos with an Unseen Servant.
- FST decide to go with the Unseen Servant for now and keep the other spell in their back pocket once they see what's really down there.
- More brainstorming about what the US will do to the pirates. They decide that it should go around stealing all the pirates' left shoes and then throw them into the cargo hold.
- S, "Tomorrow all the left shoes will be vanquished!"

- S puts the left shoe plan into action the next morning after she's tranced and prepared her spells for the day.
- The girls go to breakfast and on the way witness a pirate get dragged by his left boots and thrown into the hold. The girls suddenly realize how difficult the next hour is going to be as they cannot laugh at the hi-jinx that are about to ensue or they will give themselves away.
- At breakfast various pirates are accosted and their shoes stolen, if they can get them off in time, or, if they can't, they are dragged up the stairs out of the mess and thrown into the carrrgo hold.
- T declares that this sort of thing looks like the work of Nuitari, the god of evil magic, and that perhaps if they pray to Solinari, the goddess of good magic and the arch-enemy of Nuitari, the curse will be broken
- For the next fifteen minutes T leads the pirates in pray while she prays to Mishakal in their name to remove the bad magic affecting the sailors of this ship.
- The US finally steals the captain's left boot and the praying gets very vigorous indeed, and the spell animating the US ends, and the captain's boot drops with a thud on the stairs. His sock is in very bad disrepair.
- T tells him to sit down and Mends his sock. He is very impressed and asks her to do the other one too. She complies nicely and tells him that "That's the power of good magic."
- The pirates are very nervous for the next few hours.
- The girls go back to their cabin and brainstorm again.
- The next morning S gives the US servant the following set of commands:
      - If someone opens the hold's hatch, slam it closed.
      - If someone closes the hold's hatch, open it.
      - If no one is interacting with the hatch, open it or slam it closed every five minutes.
- It does not take long before there's a crowd watching the pirate Davies trying very unsuccessfully to close the hatch that leads into the hold. He closes it and latches it shut only to have the latch undo itself and fly opening again.
- Captain C comes over to see what the commotion is this time, and after trying himself to close the hatch, tells everyone to get back to work and sets one of the pirates to guard the hatch. He goes off muttering about what he could have done to anger Zeboim.
- That pirates watches bemusedly and then very boredly as the hatch opens and closes itself.
- S keeps the US servant going all morning and into the afternoon. She and T finally move in and distract the pirate guard with a game of throwing daggers while F sneaks into the hold while the hatch is conveniently open.
- At the very back of the hold there are five cages and two at the sides. There are two little people in each cage. One asks in a very quiet voice who F is. She talks to them and discovers that they are halflings from Koswattagoda. Other than being in cages the halflings are tolerably well fed and not being treated too badly.
- F successfully sneaks back out when the hatch is opened again and disappears into the cabin for a few minutes before coming "to see what her companions are up to" - S has soundly defeated the pirate who was bad enough to have lost his best dagger over the side.
- S gestures at T to pretend to do magic. T does, "invoking" Mishakal's aid, and S performs a small spell to retrieve the dagger, which flies into T hand only a little wet. She hands it back to the pirate.
- T finally walks over and banishes the "evil spirit" so that S can stop spending 10 minutes out of every hours renewing the spell.
- The next morning S creates 3 Unseen Servants and has them steal the pirates' food every time one of them starts to take a bite and bring the food to the halflings in the hold.
- There is much pandemonium.
- The next afternoon the captain gives to order to make for Port Carling to drop off the carrrgo, S and T give him 50GP not to stop in port because they don't yet have a plan to save the halflings.

Hobgoblins and Ogres on the Bridge, Oh My! - January 15, 2016

- It's been two months!

What a Cliffhanger! - October 30, 2015

- Dice addiction
- "Vocabulary of a fresh water fish"

- Two days later the barge pulls into the docks at Eaglesham
- Freddie's adventure will be to travel back up the river to his family
- O stays to unload the barge and watch the horses
- FST & Freddie find a small temple to Branchala - the priest says he knows a ranger who might be willing to wander north to Clearwater with Freddie

- Weird animal penises

- The Sapphire River is huge! - At least a mile across
- S asks a dock worker for the shipping office and he directs them
- The first office (very busy) is for cargo - T "they need better signage!"
- The next place is empty except for one employee (Darren) - he is very attentive - he directs the girls to The Figure Head (inn) and tells them to tell Francisco (innkeeper) that he sent to maybe get a discount
- The inn has a large common room - tidy and warm - Francisco is tall and thin with a big bushy
mustache

- Weird animal penises again. They're strangely fascinating. . .

- Orgul got a job at the docks because he was so good at carrying heavy things
- the temple is going to take care of getting Freddie home to his parents
- FST get a good night's rest, have a good breakfast, and head to Captain Gerard's sloop as arranged through Darren.
- The estimate to get to Mistverge is 3 days.
- Gerard and Belton (ship's hand) cast off
- T sits near the open hatch to the hold to make sure the horses are all right.
- Over the course of the trip S studies the book and practices with the Hand - She can now use the Hand to cast "Hold Person" but it will draw life force from either the caster or an ally within 10' of the caster at random - this consequences will deal 1d10 damage at 2nd level and an additional 1d10 per level above 2nd
- Mistverge is a really big city.
- On the way to the central temple of Mishakal FST cross a large market square where T sees a very familiar wagon - She runs as fast as she possibly can across the square until she can she read the words "Groundswallow Travelling Tinkers and Traders" on the side
